Coastal Build Archives records both completed work and the temporary conditions surrounding its creation. It treats construction not only as a means to an architectural outcome, but as a culture, process and body of knowledge worthy of documentation in its own right.

The archive is custodial rather than promotional. Its purpose is to observe carefully, preserve accurately and make the record available over time.

The archive is being built deliberately over time. Records will be photographed, researched, catalogued and published as they are ready—not arranged to simulate a collection that does not yet exist.

Its incomplete state is not a placeholder. It is the first visible stage of the institution.
